The essential deciding factors

lenovo thinkpad laptop music productionPrice – we had to put this one in the first place because the majority of people are concerned about the costs. Although, you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars on your music making a computer. But, the higher you go, the better the quality of your music will be. On the other hand, if you are a beginner, you don’t have to spend huge money.

Mac vs. PC – when it comes to this decision, we aren’t going to get into this debate. Both sides have some fantastic features, and it’s up to you, whether you are a Windows or a Mac fan.

Digital audio station – do you have your DAW picked out yet? This can narrow down your choice and steer you towards particular Mac or PC device. In this case, we would go with Mac. If you want to make and produce high-quality music, then you’ll need more memory and Pro Tools.

Laptop vs. desktop – we have seen how powerful and capable laptops have become and the most significant deciding factor of your choice is if you are planning on traveling and performing live. If that’s a case, then you’ll need a PC.

Must have computer features

Processor – we would recommend you to go with a 3.0 processor that is a quad-core, for example, Intel Core i5 or an AMD equivalent.

RAM – it must have 8 GB of RAM or higher.

Standard memory – in this case, you need to look for at least 500 GB of hard drive capacity. But if you are downloading sounds and storing them on your computer, then you will need a more significant capacity hard drive, at least 1TB.

Make sure that hard drive is SSD – it means Solid-State Drive, and it’s essential because of processes data faster than regular HDD.

15” screen – this comes down to your personal preferences, but if you want to have a large enough display to monitor everything, then you can’t work on a small screen.

The video card doesn’t matter – unless you plan to edit videos, we don’t think you should focus on this.
